On-Site Paramedic

    ABOUT US

    FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking qualified individuals to fill the vacant position of On-site Paramedic.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Role Purpose: The On-site Paramedic will provide frontline emergency and pre-hospital medical care at FG Gold, delivering 24/7 emergency cover, patient assessment, stabilisation, and preparation for medical evacuation. Working within scope of practice and site medical protocols, the role supports the day-to-day running of the on-site clinic, treats minor injuries and common illnesses, assists with occupational health screening and health surveillance, maintains clinic and ambulance readiness, and delivers first aid and emergency response training to the workforce.

     

    Emergency & Pre-Hospital Care

    • Respond immediately to on-site medical emergencies, providing advanced pre-hospital assessment, triage, stabilisation, and life support within scope of practice and site medical
    • Manage trauma, cardiac, respiratory, heat-related, and other acute presentations at the scene, in transit, and in the clinic, and prepare patients and documentation for medical evacuation.
    • Coordinate emergency response with site security, emergency response teams (ERT), the On-site Physician, and external emergency services to ensure rapid escalation and continuity of

    Occupational Health

    • Assist in conducting pre-employment medicals, fitness-for-work assessments, and annual health screenings (e.g. audiometric, spirometry, and respiratory fit testing).
    • Perform and accurately record baseline observations, vision, blood pressure, and biometric testing for medical review, and support job-specific medical standards and fatigue management
    • Support monitoring of occupational illness and injury trends to enable proactive health risk mitigation and workforce wellbeing initiatives.

    Primary Healthcare

    • Provide daily treatment of common illnesses and minor injuries for workers living in the mining camp, within scope of practice and site standing orders.
    • Provide health education and preventive care guidance to employees, including hygiene, hydration, nutrition, malaria and communicable disease prevention in a camp environment.
    • Escalate cases beyond scope of practice to the On-site Physician and support referrals, follow-up, and coordination of care post-evacuation or off-site treatment.

    Clinic, Ambulance & Equipment Readiness

    • Maintain clinic and ambulance stock, including medical equipment, consumables, oxygen, and pharmaceuticals, performing daily checks to ensure full readiness at all
    • Ensure emergency response bags, defibrillators, airway, immobilisation, and monitoring equipment are serviceable, calibrated, and restocked immediately after every incident, in line with site medical protocols and standard operating procedures.
    • Ensure medical waste management and pharmaceutical storage comply with legal, environmental, and company standards.

    Health & Safety Compliance

    • Support implementation of occupational health surveillance programs (dust, noise, heat, chemicals).
    • Conduct hygiene inspections of camp, kitchens, and water
    • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical

    Drug & Alcohol Testing

    • Perform routine, random, and for-cause drug and alcohol testing in line with company policy and chain-of-custody requirements.
    • Record, secure, and submit test results for medical review by the On-site Physician, and support fitness-for-duty
    • Support rehabilitation, return-to-work, and monitoring programs in accordance with company policy and applicable labour legislation.

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Maintain confidential, accurate electronic medical records (EMR), patient care reports, and treatment registers for every case attended.
    • Compile daily clinic activity, injury, and medication usage data and contribute to monthly health surveillance reports for the safety department.
    • Ensure compliance with data protection, medical confidentiality, and reporting obligations under local and international regulations.

    Training

    • Deliver on-site first aid, CPR/AED, and emergency care training for emergency response teams (ERTs) and the wider workforce, including hazardous materials handling and heat illness
    • Support the design and running of site-specific medical emergency drills and simulations to test readiness for high-risk scenarios such as blasting injuries, vehicle incidents, and heat-related
    • Mentor and assess first responders and ERT members to ensure ongoing competence and compliance with certification requirements.

    QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    Educational Background:

    • Diploma or Degree in Paramedic Science / Emergency Medical Care (Paramedic or EMT-Paramedic level).
    • Valid licence/registration to practise as a Paramedic (Sierra Leone or eligible for registration).
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and PHTLS/ITLS or equivalent pre-hospital trauma certification; valid driving licence (ambulance/light vehicle) an

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years post-qualification experience in pre-hospital emergency care or an emergency department setting.
