Electrical & Instrumentation Coordinator

    ABOUT US

    FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Electrical & Instrumentation Coordinator.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Electrical & Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating electrical and instrumentation maintenance and construction support activities for the fixed processing plant and site infrastructure during the construction, commissioning, start-up and operational phases of the Greenfield gold mining project.

    The role ensures electrical and instrumentation systems are safe, compliant and reliable, supporting maximum plant availability and safe production, and works closely with the Power Station Contractor to maintain a collaborative relationship and effective communication that supports smooth power supply and minimal unplanned power outages.

    This role will coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective E&I maintenance, support commissioning of electrical and control systems, and drive continuous improvement using industry best practice.

    The position plays a critical role in ensuring operational readiness by supporting commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems ahead of plant start-up.

    • Coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for electrical and instrumentation equipment; develop E&I maintenance schedules for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VSDs and instrumentation and control systems; coordinate E&I work with the Planning Team to align with overall maintenance schedules; maintain accurate E&I equipment records within the CMMS.
    • Support commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems for new plant equipment; participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and loop checks; coordinate energisation activities with the commissioning team; assist in developing E&I maintenance task lists and preventive maintenance schedules from OEM manuals.
    • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, including isolation and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures; coordinate statutory electrical inspections and hazardous area (Ex) compliance activities; manage the calibration programme for plant instrumentation.
    • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation faults to minimise plant downtime; support control system optimisation in conjunction with Operations and Reliability; manage critical spares holdings for E&I equipment; liaise with automation and control system vendors on technical matters.
    • Assist with preparation of the E&I maintenance budget and cost estimates; monitor E&I maintenance expenditure against budget; coordinate E&I contractor requirements and monitor contractor performance; maintain a close, collaborative working relationship with the Power Station Contractor, ensuring effective communication and coordination to support a smooth, reliable power supply and minimise unplanned power outages.
    • Promote Zero Harm principles across all E&I maintenance activities; ensure E&I maintenance plans comply with statutory safety requirements and environmental regulations; participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, Permit to Work processes, safety inspections and risk assessments; support incident investigations where required; develop effective working relationships with Maintenance Planning, Processing Operations, Reliability Engineers, Automation/IT, Contractors and the HSE Department.

     

    QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    Educational Background:

    Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Trade Certificate or National Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering. Instrumentation qualification or equivalent experience.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience in a gold or mineral processing plant.
    • Experience with PLC, SCADA and DCS systems.
    • Experience with hazardous area (Ex) compliance requirements.
    • Previous experience in a Greenfield mining project or commissioning environment (desirable).

      • Frequent interaction with operational and project teams.
