Compliance Specialist

    ABOUT US

    FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of a Compliance Specialist.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Role Purpose: The Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the company’s compliance framework to ensure adherence to applicable laws, mining regulations, environmental and social obligations, corporate governance standards, and internal policies across all phases of the mining lifecycle.

     

    Regulatory & Legal Compliance Management

    • Monitor and interpret applicable mining, labor, environmental, health and safety, and corporate regulations.
    • Ensure site operations comply with national legislation, regulatory permits, and licensing requirements.
    • Maintain regulatory obligations register and track compliance status.
    • Coordinate preparation and submission of statutory reports to government authorities.
    • Support permitting, renewals, and regulatory inspections.
    • Advise management on emerging regulatory changes and associated risks.
    • Liaise with regulators/ government agencies about compliance statuses as required.
    • Provide legal support as required to the management team in mitigating legal related risks.
    • Identifying, assessing, and resolving compliance issues and irregularities
    • Perform other related duties or assignments as may be assigned.

     

    Governance, Risk & Internal Controls

    • Develop and maintain the site Compliance Management Framework.
    • Conduct compliance risk assessments across departments.
    • Support implementation of internal control systems and policy enforcement mechanisms.
    • Monitor adherence to company Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
    • Coordinate internal compliance audits and support external audit processes.
    • Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
    • Maintain documentation and evidence required for audit readiness.
    • Support ESG and sustainability reporting compliance.
    • Provide guidance and assistance to ensure all operations and business activities are carried out in compliance with Sierra Leonean laws and regulations.
    • Perform other related duties or assignments as may be assigned.

     

    Policy Management & Training Support

    • Develop, review, and update company policies and procedures to align with legal and corporate standards.
    • Ensure policies are effectively communicated and accessible across the organization.
    • Support awareness programs related to compliance, ethics, anti-corruption, and governance.
    • Collaborate with Training and HR departments to embed compliance into onboarding and workforce development programs.
    • Track policy acknowledgments and compliance certifications.
    • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.

     

    Reporting & Performance Monitoring

    • Prepare regular compliance tracking reports for senior management and Board review
    • Filing and submission of compliance performance reports.
    • Track compliance KPIs and identify trends requiring intervention.
    • Maintain incident registers related to regulatory or ethical breaches.
    • Support risk management reporting and mitigation tracking.
    • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in governance systems.
    • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.

     

    QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    Educational Background: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Governance, Risk Management, or related discipline.
    • Professional certification in Compliance or Risk Management is an advantage.

     

    Experience:

    • Experience in heavy mobile equipment and greenfield/start-up mining projects.
    • 5–8 years’ experience in compliance, governance, or regulatory roles.
    • Specific experience within the mining industry will be an advantage.
    • Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections.

     

    Languages: 

    Fluency in English.

     

    Physical Requirements: Excellent physical condition to handle demanding work environments.
