    ABOUT US

    FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of a Chief Operating Officer.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Role Purpose: The Chief Operating Officer (COO), a direct report to the Executive Chairman, is responsible for driving operational readiness and execution across the organization. The role provides strategic leadership and oversight for all operational departments of the company, excluding Finance and Projects, ensuring that systems, processes, and capabilities are aligned to support the company’s transition into full operational performance.

    The COO acts as the bridge between strategy and execution translating the organization’s strategic vision into disciplined operational delivery. This role ensures that all operational functions operate efficiently, safely, and in coordination, enabling the organization to achieve production targets, maintain regulatory compliance, and sustain operational excellence.

    The position will oversee the performance of key operational departments, including mining and ‘near pit mineral resource (MRE) upgrade’ exploration, processing, security, supply chain, sustainability, camp and administration, IT, and other operational support units, ensuring integration across functions and readiness for stable, efficient, and scalable operations. He/she will establish operational frameworks, strengthen cross-functional coordination, facilitate performance monitoring systems, and drive continuous improvement across the operational value chain. Working closely with the Executive Chairman and other executive leaders, the role ensures that operational priorities are executed with discipline, resources are optimized, and risks are proactively managed.

    Ultimately, the COO is accountable for building and sustaining a result orientated operational environment where people, processes, infrastructure, and systems work in harmony to deliver safe, sustainable, reliable, and world-class operations. 

     

    Operational Readiness & Transition to Production

    • Lead the Operational Readiness Program to transition the Baomahun Project into full mining operations.
    • Establish the operational organisation structure, reporting lines and functional responsibilities for all operational departments.
    • Ensure operational systems, procedures and management controls are developed and implemented prior to commissioning.
    • Oversee commissioning and ramp-up of mining, processing and support infrastructure.
    • Ensure operational preparedness in: workforce capability, maintenance systems, operational procedures, supply chain and logistics, safety systems, and production reporting.
    • Build a high-performance, results orientated operational culture across the organization.
    • Ensure successful handover of infrastructure from the Project Team to Operations.

     

    Mining Operations

    • Provide strategic and operational leadership of open pit mining activities.
    • Manage performance of mining contractors and operational partners, including establishment of Mine Services Agreements (MSA).
    • Ensure operational readiness of waste rock dumps, haul roads, explosives storage facilities and ore delivery systems to the Run-of-Mine (ROM) pad.
    • Monitor mining productivity, dilution control, grade control and cost performance.

     

    Processing & Plant Operations

    • Oversee commissioning and operational readiness of the processing plant and associated infrastructure.
    • Ensure plant performance meets metallurgical performance benchmarks, throughput and recovery targets.
    • Establish operational procedures for plant operations, maintenance and process optimization.

     

    Infrastructure, Utilities, Asset Management & Maintenance
    • Oversee readiness and operational performance of site power supply systems, including Independent Power Producer (IPP) commissioning and integration into mine operations.
    • Oversee establishment and operational reliability of site water supply and water management systems required for mining and processing activities.
    • Ensure operational readiness, regulatory compliance and safe management of tailings storage facilities and waste management infrastructure.
    • Oversee development, maintenance and operational effectiveness of site logistics infrastructure, including access roads, haul roads and transportation systems supporting mining operations.
    • Establish maintenance strategies for mining and processing assets.
    • Implement asset reliability and preventative maintenance programs.
    • Ensure availability of critical spare parts and inventory management systems.
    Operational Systems, Governance & Stakeholder Relations
    • Implement integrated operational management systems covering production, safety, maintenance and reporting.
    • Establish production reporting systems to ensure timely and accurate operational performance tracking.
    • Implement operational performance monitoring frameworks to track production, plant performance and operational efficiency.
    • Establish contractor performance management systems aligned with contractual KPIs.
    • Implement cost control and operational budgeting systems to support financial discipline.
    • Establish operational risk management systems to identify and mitigate operational risks.
    • Implement governance and reporting frameworks to support executive management and Board oversight.
    • Maintain strong relationships with the Board, government agencies, host communities, regulators, traditional authorities and key stakeholders.
    • Ensure the project maintains its social license to operate through responsible operational practices.
    Life of Mine Planning & Budgeting
    • Lead the development and periodic update of the annual Life of Mine (LoM) Plan and Strategic Business Plans (SPBs)
    • Confirm final operating budgets and production forecasts prior to operations commencement.
    • Ensure alignment of operational plans with corporate production and financial targets with annual budgets and subsequent quarterly forecast.
    • Ensure mine site exploration (MinEx) and grade control drilling is sufficient to upgrade inferred mineral resources to mineral reserves and perform standard mine reconciliation processes.
    Supply Chain & Operational Contracts
    • Ensure operational supply chains are established and optimized prior to production.
    • Confirm key suppliers and negotiate operational contracts where required.
    • Oversee procurement of operational critical materials including explosives, fuel, spare parts, mining consumables.
    Strategic Reporting & Executive Leadership
    • Provide regular operational performance reports to the CEO and Board.
    • Participate in Board Technical and Operations Committee oversight.
    • Provide strategic operational input into corporate planning and project expansion decisions.

     

    QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    Educational Background: 

    •  Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
    • MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Mining, Engineering, Business Administration or Operational Management preferred.

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum 20 years mining industry experience.
    • At least 10 years in senior operational leadership roles.
    • Proven experience in mine start-ups or greenfield mining projects.
    • Experience managing large-scale open pit gold mining operations.
    • Experience working with shareholders and interfacing with financial markets and lenders.
    • Experience working in African mining jurisdictions.

      Languages: 

      Fluency in English.
